We think starting a skincare routine now is a great way of improving your overall wellbeing and giving yourself some much-needed TLC. In this article, we’ll look at some great products to get you on your way as well as some instructions on how to ensure you keep the routine going so you can get the best results for your skin.

Do you really need a skincare routine?

Some men think that a skincare routine is too much of an investment of their precious time (and money), but here at Bulldog Skincare we understand men. We know it can be hard to incorporate changes into a routine that you’ve worn well over the years, but we also know that there are some awesome products you can use to really help your skin look and feel better, without costing the earth or taking an extra two hours every morning.

If you don’t think you need a skincare routine, you might just be used to a particular skin complaint that you think it’s normal and you’ll just have to deal with it. That is not so. Got dry skin? Start moisturising. Skin feeling oily? It’s probably in need of a gentle cleanse. There’s an answer to everything and some simple skincare will do you wonders.

How can I improve my skincare routine?

The first step is to assess your skin type to ensure you’re using the right products for your skin. The last thing you want is to invest in a bunch of products that aren’t designed for your skin. We have a few ranges that suit different skin:

  • Age Defence
  • Sensitive
  • Oil Control
  • Protective
  • Energising
  • Original

Once you’ve worked out the range for you, it’s time to define how to use each product and what each one does to help your skin. It might be that your skin needs an extra dose of hydration, in which case you can add an emulsion. Or, maybe you feel like your skin just isn’t getting cleaned properly – why not incorporate a face scrub to help you out?

Let’s take a look at some of the key products you should think about.

What order should my skincare routine be?

You’re stocked up on skin-loving products, but which order is the right order? It can seem daunting but trust us, once you’ve got it down it’ll be easy to keep it going. Let’s keep things simple with a step-by-step guide for skincare beginners.

Step 1: Cleanse
A posh word for wash, a facial cleanse will help get rid of any dirt and grime that has built up over the course of the day/evening. Try our Energising Face Wash for a revitalising citrus hit.

Step 2: Scrub
Every three days, use a scrub to deep clean your face. It’ll help get rid of dead skin and anything blocking your pores. Use our Original Face Scrub made with green tea and aloe vera, soothing to the extreme.

Step 3: Moisturise
This is probably the most important step as skin without moisture can be dry and uncomfortable. Hydration is the key to healthy skin and finishing your skincare routine with a moisturiser that has been designed for your skin type is the best step you can take to improve your skin. Even if you have oily skin, you still need to moisturise – don’t worry, our Oil Control Moisturiser is perfect for you.

Original Moisturiser

How many times a day should you moisturise your face?

You should moisturise your face every morning and every evening to ensure you’re getting the most from it. There are other products that can give you an extra hit of hydration and nourishment as well, so you can use these every so often to help boost effectiveness.

What is a good face wash routine?

A good face wash routine is one that you stick to! It’s important to give your skin the best defence against some of the things it will come into contact with every day. Whether you are working from home and not getting as much fresh air as before, or whether you’re getting out and about and your skin is struggling with the change in temperature – you don’t have to just live with it.  Washing your face evening morning and evening will help reduce skin complaints and leave your skin feeling truly nourished.
