What are the best men’s razors?
There are a ton of different types of razor out there, so deciding on the one for you means doing a bit of research. The best men’s razors are designed for the robust needs of male skin and facial hair. You may have been brought up using a certain type of razor, with shaving skills being passed on from generation to generation – but, innovations in materials and packaging mean you can enjoy a great shave without doing harm to the environment, something that was previously impossible.
From system razors to electric shavers, each one has its place in the shaving world, but we recommend using one that provides a close shave without being damaging to the skin on your face and your facial hair itself.
For example, men with sensitive skin can often struggle with finding a razor that doesn’t make their skin feel itchy post-shave. You can use the Bulldog Skincare Sensitive Steel Blades, which have a purpose-built lubrication strip enriched with baobab oil to be kind to skin.
What kind of razor gives the closest shave?
Getting the blades as close to the skin as possible is important for men who want to achieve a proper clean-shaven look. Straight blade razors, like you’ll find at the barber, will give you the desired look, but for the daily shave at home you should opt for a safety razor with multiple blades.
Multiple blades help distribute the weight of your hand pressing down, giving you even coverage for a close shave. Razors with a pivoting design can also help you get into the contours of your face and grab hairs that otherwise might be a pain to get to. We’ve implemented the pivot design on our razors so you can get a smooth shave every single day.
Is shaving with a safety razor better?
Not necessarily. In fact, whilst they’re cheaper, they also have short lifespans meaning constant buying if you want to get a sharp and close shave every day. Safety razors don’t come with a lubrication strip either and this, combined with a single blade, can mean a less comfortable shave. Safety razors also require a lot of precision and thought – against the grain in some areas and with the grain in others. This is made a lot simpler with cartridge razors.
With multiple blades and pivot mechanism, cartridge razors are much simpler to use in that the cutting angle is always optimal, so there’s no need to worry that you’re going in the wrong direction.
Also, the five blades do different things – the first one lifts the hair, the second one cuts it, the third lifts it again, and the fourth cuts again. This means you’re almost certain to get a nice close shave every time.
What is the best wet shave razor?
One of the most widely-used razor types is the wet shave razor. Combined with a shaving foam or cream, wet razors are an effective way of getting both a full face or precision shave.
The Bulldog Original Bamboo Razor is the amalgamation of great shaving technology and eco-conscious design, coming together to create a shaving experience that is kind to your face and kind to the planet. With changeable blades that are made of tempered steel and come with an aloe lubrication strip and precision trimmer, we’re pretty confident you’ll love them. Also, you can mix and match handles and blades because we’ve designed them all to fit together, no matter the combination. Simple, straightforward shaving.
